THE PINK MARCH – Walk for Life…

November 25, 2007 · 1 Comment

We walk for fun, They walk for Life…
( post tagged for Malaysiakini Bersih Hindraf by wattahack? )

Today is a special day because not only was there the Hindraf Orange March downtown reported by Malaysiakini , there was a Pink March going on as well. I was invited to cover the other march against Breast Cancer organised by Pantai Hospital in Bangsar.

It is quite sad that Tan Sri Batuk Mohd Khatib said 1 in 20 women are victims of breast cancer in his opening speech. 1:20 ratio is unacceptable and it is important that women take charge of their own body and take the time to screen themselves every year and learn the basics from the specialists about early detection.

Early detection is important and it means saving your life or a very important body part… now the other amazing news from Tan Sri is MEN! are not spared as well with 1% of all cases going to them! Now big chested men should not be too worried if they also do yearly screening as well.

The event saw the arrival of Nurul as Guest Celebrity and Sponsors from Tokio Marine and GE. All participated in a fun warm-up routine emceed by Red 104.9 FM crew and even had Tan Sri and Nurul doing the hip jive. It was great and soon after Tan Sri lead the pack waving a Pink flag to start The Walk of Life event down Pantai hill.

The orginal route was detoured due to the messy Police and FRU situation downtown. Many participants came back quite fast as some decided to do the sprint rather than walk. Any how all made it back safely even those with baby strollers (child protection act?).

Cool down time saw a dance performance and fire eating (spitting) Indians? Red Indians look alike and a very surprising catwalk show by some very brave Models. Prize giving and lucky draw ends this wonderful event and may all walk for life in the fight against those corrupted Cancer cells be it in our body or our government.

WHEN THINGS DON’T ADD UP…

Freedom from tyrants, both foreign and domestic by Yahya’s Yap
( post tagged for Malaysiakini by wattahack? )

Malaysia’s democracy has become plainly deficient in each of these respects, despite the fact that elections are held every 4-5 years.

1) The composition of parliament should be representative of the votes cast at the election. This is demonstrably not the case in the Dewan Rakyat (Malaysia’s lower house of parliament), which consists of 219 seats. 198 of these (90.4%) are controlled by the government, effectively rendering Malaysia a one-party state until the next election is held. This is despite the government only winning 63.9% of the vote.

When one considers the individual parties that make up the government, the unrepresentativeness becomes even more obvious. UMNO (the party of the Prime Minister) won just 35.9% of the vote – yet controls half of the seats in parliament (49.8%). PAS, the opposition party that won the largest number of votes (15.2%), has just 7 seats in parliament (3.2%). Both these parties have mainly Malay Muslim supporters. Looking at the two parties mainly voted for by Chinese, the government’s coalition partner MCA won 15.5% of the vote (about the same as PAS) but won 31 seats (14.2% of the parliament, while the opposition DAP won 9.9% of the vote but has just 12 seats in the parliament. The multi-ethnic but mainly supported by Malays opposition PKR won 8.9% of the votes but just 1 seat in the parliament. By contrast the government coalition partner MIC won just 3.2% of the vote, but holds 9 seats in parliament, more than PAS who nearly 5x as many Malaysian’s voted for.

This means for every seat in parliament the following number of Malaysians voted for them:

GOVERNMENT PARTIES
UMNO – 22,782 voters
MCA – 34,652 voters
MIC – 24,616 voters
TOTAL: 82,050

OPPOSITION PARTIES
DAP – 57,278 voters
PAS – 150,211 voters
PKR – 617,518 voters
TOTAL: 825,007

is something wrong here?

OPEN LETTER TO DATUK SERI ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI, PM

A FICTION WRITER WRITES IN SUPPORT OF JOURNALISTS

Dear Prime Minister Abdullah,

26 September 2007 saw two thousand lawyers “Walk for Justice” to defend the good name and protest the sliding standards of their profession. “When lawyers march,” said Ambiga Sreenevasan, President of the Bar Council, “something must be wrong.” (more…)

YELLOW YELLOW DIRTY FELLOW

Did Malaysiakini , Malaysia-Today , Bersih & Oppositions supporters
- bring underaged children to the Nov 10th rally as Human Shields?
( post tagged for Malaysiakini by wattahack? )

musa.jpg

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan stated in TV that they arrested many including women and children. Now he claims that Bersih organisers used children as Human Sheilds during the rally. I find that odd as after scanning through photos posted on the rally (here, here, here & here) and found only Maroon human shields were present and they were not underaged at all!

Is the IGP out of ideas to stress to the media or don’t really know what to make of such a large gathering of citizens that he of all thing resorts to Child Protection Act? Is he still smarting from not being able to apprehend our poor deceased Nurin’s killer? Imagine the police can lock down the entire KL and yet not able to catch a child rapist and killer? Lack of police personnels? nope? after what happened Nov 10 there seems to be ample.

THE BIG BAD WOLF HUFFS AND PUFFS…

Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf ? Malaysiakini ?

nov10-block1.jpg

Those coming from the south using Seremban-KL highway were greeted with Police with machine guns and JPJ personnels blocking up the whole road to one lane right after the Petronas station heading to KL. Imagine to be caught in a man made jam at 3am!

Merdeka square is ’squared’ off and Malaysian are not allow in Merdeka Square since its owned by BN and not by Malaysians. I’m sorry to all Malaysians as your Merdeka Square is no longer for Merdeka (Independence) but for Pengkhianat (Traitors) – Yes! We have been conned by Traitors disguised as Mr.Clean, Mr.Keris, Mr.Racist & Mr.Bocor. Read it on Malaysiakini here

This is why we need a reform!

update: saw fronpage new with a title like this: ’SAYA PANTANG DICABAR’ =’I DISLIKE BEING CHALLANGED’ coming from the PM. Now I wonder what sort of leader is this after all that ‘feel good’ promises but when questioned and challenged he fails by raising a reply such as this. Sounds like a ‘DICTATOR’ ???
