In response to Rocky’s post here:
I will not fly any nation’s flag upside down neither will I burn any flag so why should I fly our Malaysian Flag upside down? This is my opinion as everytime I see the flag I do not see BN or Umno or MCA or MIC or any political party no matter how they try to lay claim to it. To me I see my grandfather, my father and all those that worked hard and dedicated their lives building, protecting and loving this nation for all races.
The MALAYSIAN FLAG is not owned by a race or a political party. It was designed and placed together with care for all of us.
The flag of Malaysia, also known as the Jalur Gemilang (“Stripes of Glory”), comprises a field of 14 alternating red and white stripes along the fly and a blue canton bearing a crescent and a 14-point star known as the Bintang Persekutuan or Federal Star. The 14 stripes, of equal width, represent the equal status in the federation of the 13 member states and the federal government, while the 14 points of the star represent the unity between these entities. [1] The crescent represents Islam, the country’s official religion; the yellow of the star and crescent is the royal colour of the Malay rulers; The red of the stripes stands for the bloodshed to earn independence. The white stands for the people and economy of Malaysia.[2] – read more here wikipedia
Now what needs more attention is the condition of our country and not the flag. As you can see from the photo above even our flag comes under siege from our own police. No Malaysian should ever be blocked from going, gathering or visiting MERDEKA SQUARE or just plain paying respect to our MALAYSIAN FLAG!
But this happened recently and even a lawyer was hauled up for standing there with a candle! Is this flag a symbol of Freedom we achieved or a symbol of us still being colonised? I feel we are governed by Former Slaves to the Queen of England. While the rest of the world including the England had moved on, Malaysia is caught in limbo with all the dracionian laws still intacted to manage us Slaves.
The saddest thing is the Former Slaves said to championed our freedom decided to maintain these set of draconian laws to stay in power and keep us Present Slaves on our hands and knees…
Till the day of Real Freedom comes….
